A west facing courtyard garden situated near to the coast and set into the hill is protected from damaging winds by the surrounding U-shaped house offering shelter and warmth. Wide platform steps gently rise from the courtyard through the planted terraces to the main garden beyond, where a productive garden with greenhouse, raised vegetable borders and a mini orchard are surrounded by a wildflower meadow.
A mix of ornamental grasses and perennials with colourful contrasting tones complements the warm colours of the hard landscaping.
"My favourite place in the world is my garden and my home: Jo and her husband Nick, with their hard landscaping and expert planting, have cleverly created a space where the two meld into one. They've sculpted a difficult, sloping site into layered planted beds accessed by wide, generous platform steps: These take the eye on an interesting and beautiful journey through colours and scents, textures and forms; they also facilitate ease-of-use and maintenance. All of this was achieved with faultless professionalism and superb horticultural knowledge. I adore my 'Jo Garden'!
