Seaside Terrace Garden
This garden in St. Mawes climbs steeply from The Pink Cottage via a flight of granite steps to a south facing site with fabulous sea views over the thatched rooftop. The clients required a stylish family garden with safe and level areas for children to play, an entertaining space with outdoor kitchen and a summerhouse at the top of the garden to maximise the views. Access to the garden is limited to a narrow alleyway so an imaginative design was required to make use of the on-site materials. The existing walling stone was reused to create a series of level terraces and steps to take you gently through the garden spaces.A pair of 80 year-old ancient Olive trees provide a sense of maturity to the contemporary planting scheme of sun loving plants.
When we bought The Pink Cottage, we were looking for inspiration on how to transform an overgrown back garden on a long slope into a fun, useable and stylish garden.
Jo’s vision was amazing. She married traditional Cornish stonewalls with a modern Mediterranean style and planting plan that gives us 12 months of colour.
8 years later the garden is getting better each year - all thanks to Jo's vision and hard work.
